I have noted the Bicolored Hawk (Accipiter bicolor) here in San Antonio in all months from April to September, and once in December. Today a juvenile bird caused a huge stir with the Gray-headed Chachalacas (Ortalis cinereiceps) nesting here in the garden.

He anotado avistamientos del Gavilán Bicolor (Accipiter bicolor) aquí en San Antonio en todos los meses desde abril hasta septiembre, y una sola vez también en diciembre. Hoy provocó gran escándalo un individuo juvenil metiéndose entre las Chachalacas Cabecigris (Ortalis cinereiceps) que anidan aquí en nuestro jardín.

Maybe the chachalaca chicks escaped the marauding hawks, since I have not found any tell-tale piles of feathers. If so, they were luckier than the young Great Kiskadee (Pitangus sulphuratus) killed by the last bicolor to visit here.

Puede que los polluelos de las chachalacas lograron escaparse del gavilán merodeador, ya que no he podido descubrir ningún rastro de plumas acumuladas en el suelo. Si es así, tuvieron ellos más suerte que el juvenil de Bienteveo Grande (Pitangus sulphuratus)que fue matado por el último bicolor en visitarnos.
