Red-winged Blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus): Tordo sargento; Rotflügelstärling; Carouge à épaulettes

Formerly the southern limit of this extremely abundant North American blackbird was north-western Costa Rica. In our area, however, it is still not easy to find. It now appears regularly in very small numbers at Angostura and thus on our recent morning excursion, when two combative males turned up, I resolved to write just a very quick post to take advantage of John’s impressive photograph:
